The town of Lanuza is located at the Northern part of Surigao del Sur, one of the four provinces of the CARAGA REGION. The town proper is 9° 14 latitude and 126° 03 30” latitude. The town is bounded on the North by the Lanuza Bay and the municipality of Carmen, on the South by the municipalities of Tandag and San Miguel, on the East by the municipality of Cortes and the West is the Province of Agusan del Sur. Lanuza is approximately 44 kilometers from Tandag, the mother municipality of Surigao del Sur, and is about 143 kilometers from Surigao City.
Lanuza has a total land area of 305.9608 sq. kilometers. The town has thirteen (13) barangays, seven (7) of which are coastal barangays and six (6) are considered as inland or upland barangays. Inland barangays include Zone 2, Gamuton, Agsam, Bocawe, Mampi and Pakwan. Coastal barangays, on the other hand, are those with portions located along the shorelines of the municipal territory. These are Nurcia, Sibahay, Habag, Zone IV, Zone III, Zone I and Bunga. |
